The Leader\u2019s Greatest Victory \u2014 Victory over Self \u2013 \u201cAs Plato wrote, \u2018the first and best victory is to conquer self\u2026.. Whereas followers tend to think of themselves first, leaders have learned to put others ahead of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Asset \u2014 Confidence \u2013 \u201cOnly those who believe in themselves have enough optimism to see the best in those around them. Self-confidence breeds confidence in others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>3. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Weight \u2014 Final Responsibility \u2013 Great leaders are fully accountable and take complete ownership for everything that they do.<\/p>\n<p>4. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Discipline \u2014Taking Time to Think \u2013 \u201cOur lives today are a result of our thinking yesterday, and our lives tomorrow will be determined by what we think today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>5. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Handicap \u2014 Pride \u2013 \u201cPride gives people an overinflated sense of their own importance and causes them to devalue the contribution of others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>6. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Opportunity \u2014 Today \u2013 \u201cWe have a tough time forgetting opportunities that have slipped through our fingers\u2026. the more we relive the past, the further we drift from today\u2019s opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>7. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Prayer \u2014 Wisdom &#8211; \u201cLifelong learners have an edge over the competition, for they\u2019re constantly acquiring new skills and insights that others lack the energy and discipline to obtain.<\/p>\n<p>10. The Leader\u2019s Greatest Joy \u2014 Adding Value to Others \u2013 \u201cWhat truly lasts is the legacy we etch into the lives around us. What brings the greatest joy and satisfaction is enriching the lives of those we love by adding value to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What a magnificent list of inspiring greatest \u2018things!\u2019 The words speak of the great leaders\u2019 ownership of their life, and the values that are important to them in achieving their life\u2019s purpose.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They also offer us a pause for reflection about what we would put on our own \u2018greatest thing\u2019 list. What \u2018greatest thing\u2019 would be different? What \u2018greatest thing\u2019 is missing that should be added? Pause a moment to revisit Maxwell\u2019s list. What additional \u2018great thing\u2019(s) would take you, and those whom you serve, to new levels of greatness as you become more than you ever dreamed you could be? Please take care.
