{"id":1096,"date":"2012-12-20T14:38:26","date_gmt":"2012-12-20T18:38:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/cld\/?p=1096"},"modified":"2012-12-20T14:38:33","modified_gmt":"2012-12-20T18:38:33","slug":"american-heart-association-awards-ceremony-seton-hall-wins-honors-for-the-second-straight-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/StillmanLeaders\/2012\/12\/american-heart-association-awards-ceremony-seton-hall-wins-honors-for-the-second-straight-year\/","title":{"rendered":"American Heart Association Awards Ceremony &#8211; Seton Hall Wins Honors for the Second Straight Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: Lindsay Rittenhouse, The Setonian<\/p>\n<p>Seton Hall wins the University Challenge to raise funds for the American Heart Association\u2019s Essex County Heart Walk for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shu.edu\/images\/Winners-of-heart-Walk-1.jpg\" alt=\"Winners of heart Walk 1\" width=\"400\" height=\"243\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" vspace=\"0\" \/>Kevin Cummings, president and CEO of Investors Savings Bank of New Jersey and member of the Stillman School\u2019s Leadership Advisory Council, issued \u201cThe Challenge\u201d to five schools: Seton Hall University, Montclair State University, the College of Saint Elizabeth, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Drew University. Schools vied to raise the most donations through participation in the American Heart Association\u2019s Heart Walk, held in October, and through fund-raising activities on their campuses.<\/p>\n<p>Seton Hall\u2019s efforts were spearheaded by the Stillman School\u2019s Leadership Development Honors Program, and partnering organizations Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Pi, Leaders in Healthcare, The Venture Crew and SHU\u2019s Lion\u2019s Club.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shu.edu\/images\/Winners-of-heart-Walk-2.jpg\" alt=\"Winners of heart Walk 2\" width=\"400\" height=\"224\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" vspace=\"0\" \/>Student leaders Stephanie Gonzalez, Jocelyn Nackley, Molly Fash, Emily Alati, Erin Krakaur and Sean Riordan helped to secure Seton Hall\u2019s winning spot and more importantly, helped to raise more than $2,000. They accomplished this through several fundraising events, including an October Rally on the University Green.<\/p>\n<p>On December 14, several students accompanied Mike Reuter, director of the Center for Leadership Development, to the American Heart Association Awards Breakfast in Livingston.
