Three Minute Leadership: Be the Change You Wish to See in the World… Because You Can

To:  The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning
Nelson Mandela was an extraordinary and magnificent man.  Being that man he was, that he chose to be, was his gift and legacy in life. From his being flowed great doing – achievements that have changed the world and the lives of many. His words reflect his passion, purpose and leadership greatness.
“Difficulties break some men but make others.”
“Man’s goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished.”
“Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people.”
“When people are determined they can overcome anything.”
“A leader. . .is like a shepherd. He stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind.”
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”
In his recent blog, Seth Godin’s offers homage to Nelson Mandela, and  beautifully captures one of the beautiful and precious lessons he gave us.
For those that seek to make a change in the world, whether global or local, one lesson of his life is this:
You can.
You can make a difference.
You can stand up to insurmountable forces.
You can put up with far more than you think you can.
Your lever is far longer than you imagine it is, if you choose to use it.
If you don’t require the journey to be easy or comfortable or safe, you can change the world.
You can. Remember always that you can. You have only to choose.  Mahatma Ghandi’s wrote: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” Be that and more… so much more. Be more than you ever dreamed you could be…. You can. Look in the mirror now.  Look at the wonderful you. And with a gentle smile, say to you: You can!  Life is so very, very good.
Have a beautiful day and a magnificent week!!!
