Three Minute Leadership: The Decisive Element in Life… You

To:  The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote: “I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element.” What an awesome statement of the power that great leaders hold, that we each hold in our life. He adds:

“It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration; I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized.”

Our every choice, our every decision shape our life and the lives of those whom we serve. We are that awesome, beautiful and magical “decisive element.” As Stephen Covey told us, we are responsible … we are able to choose our responses. In all that we choose to be and do, choose greatness. With each new morning we have two choices: to continue to sleep with our dreams, or wake to chase our dreams. Let’s choose always to chase our dreams and achieve them. We have that power. Life is so very good!

Have a beautiful day, a magnificent week and a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
